We all know that the best real estate for internet marketers is on page 1 and position 1 of the search engines. Most of us involved in internet marketing have probably done or continue to utilize article marketing to drive traffic to our website. For the record, article marketing is still an effective SEO link building technique that I use regularly. As well, many of us use software tools to leverage our time like an article rewriter to get more unique content to hundreds of article directories. But, what I am going to reveal in today’s article is 3 powerful techniques to boost your sites to page 1.
.Gov and .Edu Backlinks – Why They Are so Effective
Many internet marketers are aware that getting .gov and .edu back links can really boost your search engine rankings. Have you ever wondered why? Its because there are so few of them around and you can’t purchase one. That makes them 2 of the most powerful back links you could obtain. Now getting them is not always easy. Below is a way for you to search for them online.
Here’s how to search for them:
For .gov links, you have to do searches like:
For blogs
site:.gov “add comment”OR “post comment”
Forums
site:.gov “powered by vbulletin”
Whenever you add comments to .edu, .gov or any site, make sure you are not spamming them. It doesn’t help and you will only get your comments and/or account banned. Why go through the effort setting up a profile, just to end up loosing your account. Even just a few of those types of links can mean the different between page 1 or 2.
Press Release Sites and Backlinks
I have known about the potential of press releases for several years now, but really didn’t understand how to tap into and really get hundreds or thousands of back links from a single press release until recently. First, you don’t need to pay money to a paid press release site to get your submission out there. In fact, many will remove your links. Besides, there are dozens of free press release sites. To find them, place in quotes, “free press release sites“. Some of them require you to create a profile, which is fine.
Remember, you can normally add 2, sometimes 3 links to a press release. I like to keep them to 2 links. The first link should go somewhere in the first sentence or 2. The reason, when your press release is syndicated, many websites will only grab the first paragraph. So you want to make sure you are adding a keyword anchored link.
You should be able to easily submit the same press release to dozens of free press release sites. I don’t know the exact number, but aim for everyone that you can get access to. Your strategy should be 1 press release per week for about 6 to 8 weeks. If you do it correctly, put generic keywords in your title, you can end up with hundreds or thousands of backlinks from a single press release.
Many people don’t utilize this method and are literally missing out on an untapped gold mine of backlinks. Press release sites have trust rank with the search engines and the search engine spiders are usually hanging out at those sites every single day indexing the content.
RSS Feed Backlinks
Do you know what an RSS feed is? Many people don’t, but its another powerful way to build back links. For example, most WordPress sites have an automatic RSS feed for the home page. Just place your mouse over the RSS widget and copy the link. Next, you want to submit that link, along with a brief description to dozens of RSS feed directories and aggregators. Those sites have good authority, so you are likely to see your link indexed even the same day of submission. To find them, do a Google search for RSS directories or RSS sites.
Now, lets take it up a notch and really get some power out of those RSS feeds. Did you know you can actually create an RSS feed for every single post and page? Yup, you can with either use a free RSS feed creator software or you can opt in and purchase one. There are all kinds of them online. Just Google that term and decide for yourself which one is right for you. A couple of things to keep in mind when looking over RSS software. Make sure you can create RSS feeds and that it can submit to RSS feeds and aggregators. This is a big time saver.
The cool thing about those RSS feeds that you create for every post and page, including the about and site map page, you can submit each one to the RSS directories. Because they are different links, they will accept them. Now, I would not try and submit 20 from the same site to the same RSS directory in one day. I would break it up and submit them over a week or two, just to have more of a natural link effect. What do you think will happen over time, when each of your RSS feed links are getting 20 or 30 backlinks?

Hello Darrell, firstly, i would like to thank you for you effort to writing this post on how to backlinks.
I believe there are many ways to go about increasing your website’s ranking and inevitably one of them is to build effective backlinks as you have mentioned.
However I do need to emphasize the importance of having your websites indexed and sitemap submitted to any of the particular search engines that your interested to be crawled ( Google most probably ). By doing so, you are increasing your rate and speed of your website to be crawled by search engines spiders much more effectively.
These are just some of the ways and I believe there are many others. As starters for beginners, i would highly recommend that you build back links from submitting articles, blog commenting, and forum posting.
As you progress and improve, you may consider finding other means such as listed above to drive it to greater length.
overally, to sum it, what we are doing is basically SEO.getting backlinks are part of improving your website ranking of which in whole is considered as SEO ( search engine optimization ). Building backlinks are just part of it. There are inevitably many other ways you can consider improving your website’s rank. =D
anyway, keep up the good work, my friend.
Have a nice day.
Cheers

Very good tip. This is new to me. I’ve use the site: www for various uses, but never thought about using it for government comment sources.

As for press releases, I’ve got to get this done. I keep putting it off because i think I need to only do this in the morning to make sure it will get seen by people. I do most of my writing and website work at night. Maybe this morning will be my first press release submission. Thanks for the inspiration.

Time of day doesn’t matter too much time for the initial submission because it normally gets scheduled for 2-3 days later. Press releases can get you some powerful backlinks, especially if the press release is particularly newsworthy.
