This article is guested post by Kevin.

Firstly, let me introduce myself, my name is Kevin Chong, a newbie of blogosphere. Mostly, I have learnt blogging knowledge from Mr Lee, the blog owner of Myblog2day.com and other blogger recently. Actually, I’ve spent 2 hours per day to learn and practice it myself. This is one of what I have learnt how to optimize image in the Google image search.

Nowadays, people don’t just search web page, they are also searching images in the search engine. But through set up the code of image, you are help search engine to figure out what keywords are related, and indirectly bring organic traffics to your website in a win-win situation.

Step 1: Give meaningful names to your image and the names must include the niche keyword. For example: I named this picture below as SilverHondaCivic.jpg better than img22023.jpg, the keyword is Honda. Normally the computer show many alphabet name which you don’t change it at all. So make a habit before save any image double check the niche keyword Google image search.

Step 2: Create great alt text. In HTML, alt attribute always used to describe the content of the image file. It can help us to Google to identity the information related to the image which you have uploaded to your website. Remember to avoided add too long alt attribute descriptive.

When we copy the HTML code from image hosting website like: ImageShack, Flickr and Photobucket to upload image to the website, we must change the alt descriptive as follow:

For example:

<img src=”http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/9126/hondacivichybridcvt.th.jpg” border=” alt=”Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us” />

Change to

<img src=”http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/9126/hondacivichybridcvt.th.jpg” border=” alt=”1998 red second hand car ” />

#1 Not good one: <img src=”car.jpg¡” alt=”" />
#2 Better one: <img src=”car.jpg” alt=”old car” />
#3 Best one: <img src=”car.jpg” alt=”1998 red second hand car” />

Step 3: You must upload a large image as possible because the bigger images usually have a higher priority than small image.

Step 4: Providing the right and relevant anchor text to your image. When we writing post, content around the image, it can directly provide search engines with important information about the subject matter of your image. As good as possible, make sure the images are placed near the relevant text. In addition to, try to providing good, descriptive titles and captions for your images.

Conclusion

After you’ve tried to do all the changes, your organic traffics should be increasing. But you must be patience because it may take a few weeks to improve the traffics.
