If you have made up your mind that you will be hosting your domain on a WordPress platform, and you have already chosen the domain name, you might now be looking for domain hosting. Domain hosting offers are not something really unique and any good web host you pick might be offering domain hosting. However, it never hurts to know as much as possible about the options you have when you are choosing where to host your domain name. Here are some tips you might find useful when looking for domain hosting:
1) Choose A Reputable Domain Hosting Provider
Reputation is a key factor no matter what kind of product or service you are choosing because if the domain host you pick is not a professional one, you will soon learn how many problems this can lead to. They will hardly steal your domain simply because they can’t do it (unless they hack your account at your domain name registrar’s, which isn’t that easy to do) but you will waste lots of time dealing with all kinds of stupid problems you will face. You’d better spare yourself this.
2) Host Your Domain With Your Domain Name Registrar
Very often domain name registrars offer free domain hosting and you might want to consider this option as well. However, such free domain hosting offers usually have hidden catches and this is why many webmasters avoid them. Still, if you trust your registrar and the charges for your domain name and the other services you are buying from them in exchange for the free domain hosting are not shamelessly high, this might be a good deal.
3) Consider Domain Name Parking (Free Or Paid) With A Good Web Host
It is not typical to find tons of offers for free domain name parking with a good web hosting company but still such offers do exist. Even if there is no free domain parking with a good web host, if the fees are moderate, this is still to be considered a bargain. In some cases you might have to put up with ads and this is the way to compensate your web host for the free domain hosting. In other cases you might be allowed to put up your own ads, which could be an opportunity to make some money. Well, if you don’t want any ads, regardless if it’s yours or your web hosting provider’s, this isn’t much of a choice but in all other cases, ads are a small tradeoff, if everything else is perfect of course.
4) Lock The Transfer Of Your Domain Name
No matter what kind of domain hosting you have found, it is always best if you lock the transfer of your domain name. Domain name theft is not the most popular crime on the Web but since it is always better to be safe than sorry, there is no reason not to do it.
Domain hosting is a very specific area of web hosting and sometimes it might take some time to find a decent domain hosting offer from a good web host. In such cases patience is a virtue and with some minor efforts, sooner or later you will be able to find the domain hosting you deserve.
I am in line with your points, getting a hosting plan that give you minimum headache will eventually give you a good start on your online adventure.
But we always need to have review about the hosting company before deciding which to go for. And it also very much depending on the needs of your online adventure. Maybe you can suggest some tips or facts that one should thing about when choosing hosting plans.
Just my 2 cents.
Simon
@Simon Lee,
Absolutely, it really depends on the needs, if you’re serious in online business, then we should choose a reputable hosting plan which suits our needs. Price is not a big deal, as long as it provides what you want.
I picked my host and registrar (separate) the way I make all major purchases; personal recommendations.
Personally, I strongly believe the cons far out weight the pros as far as getting both from the same place.

@Dennis,
You’re right, that’s why I bought my domains in Godaddy and hosted in Hostgator. Both of the companies are reputable and I’m happy using them at this moment.
The 2 I use. ;)

You should definitely do a little research, and make sure they have excellent customer service before you settle for a domain host. I’ve made this mistake before in the past. I chose a company just because they were the cheapest, but they ended up having the worse customer service in the world. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. I know it’s cliche, but true. :)

@Mathew,
I experienced the same in the past, I picked a cheap web hosting company and bought my domains with the company, their web host was unstable and I experienced maximum downtime, ended up I moved both of my domains and hosting to Godaddy and Hostgator. I believe price equals to quality, so choose wisely if you’re serious in online business.
I guess godaddy as registrar and gatorhost as hosting is the practise for many. I hosted some sites with godday. The only complaint I had with godaddy is their cpanel is awfully slow.
@Wilson,
I have the same experience with you Wilson, but I rarely login to Godaddy cpanel, so I’m not really care about that. Talking about Hostgator, I have no complaint at all, good performance and awesome technical support. Recommended web hosting company!
Hey Lee,
I wasn’t aware of the locking of the transfer of the domain name… however now I am pretty clear about the whole concept.
Thanks for this informative post.
Hi guys,
Thanks for sharing the tips on choosing a reputable domain hosting. I now feel that I’m confident in making a good chose now.
Kind regards,

Always a better choice to make the right decision at choosing the right hosting site for you as not a lot of them are what they say they are. For example some would say you get unlimited bandwidth while it’s not quite ever the case. A reliable host is connected to your online reputation. You don’t want people to get to your site and then it’s simply down.
i am planning to move to a new host so please suggest me any good one so i can stay for long
Nice post how to choose a domain name , Finding a great domain is really tough and i prefer to choose a domain that have a keyword in it and have 2 words only.
I prefer godaddy and namecheap if you are looking to buy a new domain because they are the best domain provider and really cheap when you have coupon
is it true that dot com is better in ranking position than dot info?
