Great compilation, it never failed to attract me to click on those “5) – [Number] Secrets Of [something]“.
Somehow, I manage to learnt to ignore “1) – How I [achieve goal]“, especially when the title says “How I made $14,568 in 2 days”, I’m having the impression it’s one of the most tainted sentence in the Internet marketing world – just my two cents :)
@Wilson,
Yea me too. That’s why I mentioned in the post that the title must be logic and achievable. $14,568 in 2 days seems impossible and I’ll definitely ignore it if I see similar title in this way. ;)
Yap, I guess headings like that had become ‘ad blindness’ for most IMers but should still attracts well to newbie. So depending on the niche we are targeting at, we should tailor the headline according.

@Tinman,
Yes because IMers roughly know what’s the content in the article no matter how attractive is the title.
Good point about IMers knowing a little more than the average internet user. This shows how important it is to take your demographics into consideration. While a certain style of title may appeal to beginners, that same title could do horribly with experienced users.
Agreed. A lot depends on your target audience and with some crowds these titles could sound too spammy.

Nice tips!
It’s true that title is the first thing to impress the readers to get to them. Thanks a lot. Have to implement it.
Thanks, pal =D
@BloggerDaily,
Yea, title is the first thing that readers see before they get into it and read the content. If you don’t have at least one eye catching title at the main page, most probably your readers will move their mouse to “x” button.
Same goes to me too if I’m a visitor. Maybe we should imagine ourselves as a reader or visitor for this.
Sometimes we have to image ourselves as the reader and think from their sides, then you may know what’s their thoughts. Nevertheless, that may or may not help because everyone has different thought and perspective.

@Shiva,
That’s right. In term of SEO, searches search something in the search engine and it comes out a few result, if you have an eye catching title then the searches will probably click on your link.
I agree. Your page titles are your most important onpage element. If you have lousy titles, expect a very poor click thru rate in the serps. Search engines also analyze the page titles to help determine what a page should be relevant about.

Lee,
I often use the question approach:
Would you like Google to crawl your site more often?
Fear of blog writing or is it shyness?
That sort of thing – it can intrigue the reader.
