Again, Google updated Pagerank for websites, blogs and forums. It shows that Google has revised the value of all the websites, blogs and forums. If I’m not mistaken, the previous Pagerank updated was December ‘08, seems that Google team is to be more aggressive in updating Pagerank. Unfortunately, this make money online blog dropped its’ PR from PR3 to PR2, it was a bad day for me. But, as the old folks said :”God takes you something, also gives you something!“, so I followed the old folks’ words and said :”Google takes my PR, also gives me higher SERPS!“.
Again, I gotta proof you that Pagerank doesn’t affect search engine ranking, perhaps it’s little influence but it’s not a matter, but backlinks do. I was checking my Pagerank two days ago and found that there was a drop on my PR, I’d also checked my SERPS for “make money blog” and “make money blogging” which my blog was in 3rd page or more in these keywords, eventually I found that my blog listed in Top 10 which was in first page for both keywords, not a bad day too.
#10 in keyword “Make Money Blog” which has 22,200 searches on February with an average CPC of $5.14
#6 in keyword “Make Money Blogging” which has 18,100 searches on February with an average CPC of $4.46
Is Google Pagerank Important?
It’s not a big deal if there is a drop on Google Pagerank, as long as your SERPS for certain keyword is improving and it pumps your traffics to the sky. Google Pagerank is not important for search engine ranking, but I personally love Pagerank a lots because pagerank is some kind of value of a blog, people might respect you if you have higher Pagerank than him/her, it’s fact! Besides these, higher pagerank could helps in making money online, it could brings you more respective advertisers to buy your banner ads, text link ads and so. In months ago, I’ve actually penalized by Google from PR2 to PR0 due to selling text links in my blog. I was frustrated and felt disappointed by looking at the blank and white bar at the pagerank toolbar, so I booted TLA and requested for reconsideration from Google. I did get back my PR3 successfully months ago, so if you’ve lost your pagerank due to selling text links or writing paid post, and you tend to get back your pagerank, I recommend you to read my previous article and learn step-by-step on how to get back Google Pagerank after penalized by Google.
However, my food blog has increased from PR0 to PR2, other niche blogs do maintain their Pagerank, I don’t care too much on the Pagerank for all my niche blogs as long as they have decent organic traffics everyday and make money online with Adsense, it shouldn’t be any problems. Remember, internet marketing and search engine optimization are important for Google Adsense, not Pagerank.

My pagerank dropped from 2 to 0!
the most important is traffic! Especially traffic from SE.

My PR dropped from PR4 to PR 0 after I added TLA on my blog. I wrote a letter of appeal but was unsuccessful. For a long time, mylongkang existed in some no-man’s land unrecognized by Google.
PR made a lot of difference in terms of search engine traffic. It will take some time before search engines and advertisers adjust to the changes IN PR. Traffic drop from search engines is sure to occur unless the searched for item is very specific to your blog.
Anyway, this round, they have readjusted it to PR2. At least they recognize my blog exists again

Don’t worry dude, commenting in quality and correct way, build more backlinks and you’ll get back your PR2 and higher in next PR updates. Remember not to sell text link and no paid post, else you’ll never get back your PR.

Yes, basically PR is important for those who want to make money through blogging. For personal blog, it’s not important, just as you said, happiness and feel proud of the achievement.

I’ve the same experience with you, but I did get PR3 after reconsideration. Perhaps PR does affect SERPS but really not that much, quality backlinks is the only key that helps your PR increases.
