Blogging Is A Business

This article is guested post by Ganesh.

Every one of us dream of hearing the first ka-ching sound of money in our paypal account. Believe me, it feels good, even more – great, when you see your account balance anywhere greater than $0. After having seen the $0 for a long time, seeing even $2 would be a WOW experience.
It is not wrong in aiming big, such as earning a six-figure income through blogging and it is indeed the right thing to do, DREAMING BIG but .. but…

Be cautious…
Be cautious, I would like to bring some clear perspectives here. Let us take any business, selling clothes, vegetables to anything…selling Porsches… the underlying guiding principle for any business is making profits or in other words making money.

But never ever a successful business is run with making money as its motto or principal motivating force.

Blogging is a business and yes it could be run for profit just like any other business but be aware that this can’t be the sole aim and motivating factor to take you to the coveted six figure income.

Purpose
The first thing is to sort out what you are going to offer your readers(customers) and what would make them take your product(blog posts). Some guide lines.

1) Be honest. Don’t pretend. Your readers are intelligent and they could smell a rat miles away. You need not be perfect, but be honest.
2) Provide value. Go out of box and challenge yourself to give the best of what you could give.
3) Build an income model. More on this towards the end.
4) Create a community. Your readers should be proud in coming to your site. They should feel possessive about it.

That’s it. It is that simple. Following these simple guidelines makes your blog an asset in itself and would help open many more diverse fields for you to venture and make … reap…mint money.

How?
You still doubt – ‘how?’ ? Say if your business model is around ads, you might get new advertisers once your popularity increases. It is easily said than done but when you work with diligence and believe in your work, it becomes very very easy.

If your income model is ‘money for service’ – you will get newer clients(readers/customers).

It doesn’t stop with this. You open up multitude of opportunities like blogging for money, selling your product/idea, guest blogging in other blogs(increases your repute), increase the asset value of your blog etc., etc.,

So…
Blogging is a business. Put your heart and soul and run it like a business, like an enterprise. You are sure to make millions.

    Hi,Ganesh.

I am Kevin, I agree with you title ” Blogging is a Online Business”

But I think it should be a writing hobby with my interest niche topic and

attract more niche market and like-minded people.

    what do you think?

    @Kevin,
Yah, it is so true. Interest in writing and the choice of niche topic of your interest are fundamental.

They are indeed your assets in business of blogging.

An ideal business is customer centric(reader centric). Everything else is secondary. But ‘everything else’ doesn’t include money.

There is nothing to be ashamed of when you say – you run your blog for making money when that is the fact. If you provide value, your readers are satisfied…right?
