Food blog is another place for food lover who love to eat and share what they ate with everyone. Normally food blogger will blog about what they ate in their state, introduce what’s the best food in their state, best food review for good food or bad comment for lousy food, take nice photo for the food and share it with everyone. I found that there is tonne of food blogs out there including my food blog as well, how many of them really make money through their food blog? I would say some of them really have good income monthly from their food blog.
Do you think a food blog can make money online? I say Yes, but you need patience and time!
How To Make Money Online With A Food Blog
Make money online with a food blog is not easy but not impossible, to make your food blog established, becomes famous, well known, huge traffics and start make money, you really need a lot of time and patience. Of course this attitude must not be applied to only food blogger but all other blogger.
I’d written a post in the past about “How A Personal Blog Make Money Blogging“, I’d listed out a few factor that you should followed to make money blogging through your personal blog. In this post, I would like to list out few points about how to make money through your food blog as well :
1) Good Photograph Skill
Everytime a food blogger try some new foods in their state, of course they will take photo for it then only they can put it in their food blog and share it with everyone. Honestly, everytime I visit a food blog, the first thing I see is not what they write but the food photo. The first thing attract me in a food blog is the food photo, after that I’ll go for their review.
A very important factor that how a food blog attract readers to continuously follow their blog is their photograph, this is fact because everyone like good photograph. But of course there is someone who just loves to read their food review but not photo, right? I would say 80% of the food blogger have their own camera (Say DSLR), although the food is not looking good in fact but it’ll will be looking good after refreshed in a photo.
So, if you want your food blog to be established, becomes famous and attract huge traffics to make money blogging, good camera or good photograph skills is a must.

2) Honest Food Review
Who don’t like honest food review? In my opinion, many visitors visit a food blog, one of their purpose is to investigate the food that they would like to try soon. So they will search around the net and look for food review. Let say they visit your food blog and look for food review about xxx restaurant, they found that you praise the xxx restaurant and write a good food review for it, they decide to have a try in the xxx restaurant. After they tried and found that the food is not as good as what you mentioned in your blog. At last, they’ll not visit you again since your food review is not honest.
With that said, honest food review is very important. If the food is good, give it a clap and write good thing about it; if the food is lousy, give it a slap and write bad comment about it. Attract traffics and look for loyal readers, that’s the steps to make your blog a success.
3) Search Engine Optimization
Other than good photograph skills and honest reviews, you should do some little Search Engine Optimization work for your food blog to improve the search engine or organic traffics for your blog. It’s not that difficult to do it, I’m not going to explain more about it and I’ll bring you to my previous post about it, you can read and learn it from there.

Other than this, I have done a research about the keyword optimization.
In the snapshot, you can see that the keyword “food blog” and “food review” have a good volume of searches on October which is 33,100. While “malaysia food” and “malaysian food” have a normal volume of searches on October which is 2,400 and 4,400. The volume for the searches is okay, if you can get into the Top 10 Google search result for the keywords, you can simply get tonnes of organic traffics there.
I realized that the competition for that keyword among advertisers is low, which mean that’s not much advertiser advertise on that keywords. With that said, with Google Adsense, if someone click on your ads regarding the keywords mentioned above, probably you won’t get a high earning for 1 click. You can see the estimated average CPC column, the rate is kinda low.
Another thing you should look for is the keyword competition, which mean how many blogger or webmaster are competing the relevant keyword, so that they can get into Top 10 in search result. If you look for keyword “food blog” and “food review” in Google Search, there is approximate 36,200,000 of competitors competing for this keyword, with that said, it’s not easy to get into Top 10. It’s not impossible but you need time!
Now, we look for “malaysia food” and “malaysian food” in Google Search, there is approximate 2,680,000 of competitors, with that said, it becomes easier to get the Top 10 in Google Search, right? This is only my simple research, you can think of other relevant keyword and do the research in Google Adword Keyword Tool, look for the lowest competitors (Approximate 500,000 is the best) in Google Searches and highest searches for the keyword you optimized.
4) Money Maker
So, you did learn how to get traffics from various way and writing skill. Now, you want to start make money online with your food blog, it’s simple! Read one of my previous post about “How To Make Money Blogging“, I had listed out some money maker in that post. Other than this, I heard that Foodbuzz did the better job for food blogger, I have not tried it yet but I think you can try it.
5) Time And Patience
At last, this is the most important part as I mentioned above. Time and patience is the most important attitude toward successful. As what I mentioned in the #3, the click through rate for keyword “food blog” in Google Adsense is very low, so you have to be patient and just keep blogging about the foods you tried before with honest food review. When your blog becomes famous and established, traffics will follow and money will follow as well.
If you still don’t have a blog yet, you should learn how to start a blog and starting make money with your blog.

Another point is, it is better if we have a domain for our blog instead of subdomain. With domain, it will attract more visitors to come to our blog. Especially if the domain is catchy.

Lol. Another niche blog. Nice info, but needs lots of patience to build traffic, penang tua pui has roughly 1200 over visitors per day which is very good for beginner like them.

agree with CypherHackz, having own unique domain is better than subdomain, it will make blogger look more pro and if use subdomain especially with ads sometime will make people think that u just want to make money

Adsense can be working if your food blog has huge traffics, especially organic traffics so that you could get tonnes of clicks over there. Just take times.
I agree that people do look at the photos first in regards to food blogs. The posts that get the most hits on my food blog are my recipes. Restaurant reviews are second. The rest kinda just fall at the waste side.
