Thesis theme has released Thesis 1.8 last week, but I believe that many thesis theme users are still using thesis 1.7 due to some reasons such as laziness of upgrading, not ready to accept new features yet, don’t have time to upgrade, worry about the errors with the combination of Thesis Theme 1.8 and WordPress 3.0.1, and etc.
WordPress 3.0.1 has been released a couple months ago and most of the thesis users were still using Thesis 1.7, they said that WordPress 3.0.1 was not compatible with Thesis 1.7, even myself had the same problem, there was an error occurred when I tried to use the custom editor to edit custom.css or custom_functions.php under wordpress control panel. A few of my friends who are thesis user faced the same problem as well, they couldn’t edit CSS under wordpress cpanel.
It’s late to write this tutorial because Thesis 1.8 has fixed the bug, but I believe that there is some people who are still using Thesis 1.7 due to the reasons that I mention above.
How To Fix Custom Editor Bug For Thesis 1.7 and WordPress 3.0.1
It’s not complicated to fix the custom editor bug for Thesis 1.7 and WordPress 3.0.1, you just need to tweak the code a little bit and you’re done. You will need to open and edit the admin.php under “wp-content/themes/thesis_17/lib/admin/admin.php” file and comment out line 42 by placing a “//” without quotes in front of the line.
The section should read the following when done.
// if (use_codepress()) add_action(‘admin_print_footer_scripts’, ‘codepress_footer_js’);
Now you may try to open thesis custom editor under your wordpress control panel and it should works well now.

Thesis theme is an awesome wordpress theme with great SEO framework, it becomes more easier to tweak the design after a couple of features added into the latest Thesis Theme 1.8. That being said, you can simply tweak the design to anything you want without getting to know much about the CSS stuff.
Thesis Theme 1.8 is cool as it adds a lot of additional features, one of them is the Google font, you can have more font choices instead of just a few boring fonts for your blog. Other than this, there is a few other cool features which may get you excited!

Yeap Saptak, the problem has been fixed in Thesis 1.8. That was one of the bugs in thesis 1.7 if you’re using wordpress 3.0.1. It’s fine now. :)
Do you know if the “fix” was included in 1.8? I did what you have mentioned Lee, but wonder if the issue is fixed in 1.8.

Yeap Colleen, the problem has been fixed in Thesis 1.8. So this post is for people who are still using Thesis 1.7. I believe that many people are still using Thesis 1.7 and having the same problem. :)

Yes the issue is fixed in 1.8 version .I have upgraded few hours ago and it works well ..where as in 1.7 version that editor was not working .

Cool! The bug was fixed in 1.8, so we don’t have any problem on that. By the way, I used to edit the CSS by using the FTP, so it didn’t bother me in the past. Anyway, I hope it helps people who are still using Thesis 1.7. ;)
