I had been looking for such a way for quite a long time how to cloak my affiliate links. You're absolutely right about long affiliate links that look horrible to any person who needs to click through. You said 50% don't like to click through - I think it's like 90%. For my click through rates is always quite lower. I have thought about buying a domain name for each of my affiliate links . . . just think of the cost! Another step that I like to do is blocking the search engine spiders from the ‘recommends’ directory as well as each individual redirect file. This can be done with the robots.txt file and meta tags. If a search engine finds too many affiliate links on a site, they usually won’t rank that site very well.

Hiding affiliate links is important, but I think it is more important to hide those links from search engines. There is no way that 50% of people ignore affiliate links. More than 50% of people have no idea what an affiliate link even is.

This tutorial is for those who have self hosted wordpress blog. I see that you’re using free WordPress platform, I think you’re not allowed to place any banner or insert link in the blog, it’s WordPress’s policy.
