How To Make Money Online With A Niche Blog

Currently I’m developing another niche blog with a new domain in www.concrete-curb.com. This blog is not talking about how to make money online as this blog. It’s about 2 months I’ve developed it and it just has about 10 articles. My new baby blog is a niche blog as well, the blog is talking about something relate with concrete curb, concrete structure and construction as well. I think not much people know what is it about and even not interested with this niche because I not built it for anyone but for construction contractor.

I developed this blog is because I’d worked as a Quantity Surveyor for about 4 years in construction base, so I think there is nothing wrong that I build up a blog and talk about what I learned and what I saw in my works. The purpose that I build this blog is to share about what I’ve learned and hope to make money online from Adsense with this blog. Basically I’m not going to promote this blog to the public because I only planned to build this construction blog for contractor and also optimize for organic traffics from search engines. 

2 months ago, I’d gone through to do a keyword survey in Adword Keyword Tool, this was the steps that I always did whenever I want to check the popularity for certain keywords. Firstly, I will check the number of searches in a month and the estimated average CPC. As you see in the screenshot below, the approximate search volume in November for the keyword “concrete curbing” and “concrete curb” is about 6,600 searches each, not much different with what I checked in 2 months ago. The estimated average CPC is about $4.64 and $3.69, it’s consider high. I do have few articles about “concrete curbing machine” as well. The searches is not as much as other keywords, but I do believe that this is a profitable keyword.

What Is Niche Blog?

Niche blog is the blog that you’re just writing about specific topic only but not like composite blog. Composite blog means you’re writing several topics in the same blog. Between, I have a Food Blog that I wrote in slightly personal rant and most probably were talked about foods. In my food post, I will talk about my personal rant in about 10% and 90% will be about the food, so probably I can consider this as a composite blog, I love to write in this way in my food blog.

How To Make Money Online With Adsense With A Niche Blog?

1) Target Specific Audience
In my opinion, in order to make money online with Adsense for a niche blog, you have to target specific audience or readers. I mean that it’s better to target the audience who not really know more about Google Adsense, and most probably they will click it if they found the link interesting.

My Experience : So, my construction blog is an example. My target is construction contractors, I believe that most of the contractors do not know about Google Adsense, let’s say they search something about concrete curb and they found my blog, so they read through my blog and look for what they want. If they can’t found that they want, most probably Adsense is their exit since they don’t know what is Adsense and interested with the Adsense content. In my construction blog, I have not much traffics since it’s new which I get about 10 organic traffics in a day, I can simply get 1-2 clicks from there and sometimes it’s even better. The click through rate (CTR) is about 10% already, so it’s consider very good for a baby blog.

As what I told you, those who know about Adsense will not click on it. Honestly, this make money blog doesn’t make much money from Adsense because the people who search for make money blogging, most of them are bloggers because they want to learn how to make money online through a blog. So, I don’t get more Adsense click with this blog. Most of my readers know about Adsense, I as a blogger who knows about Adsense, will not click on Adsense ads too.

2) Adsense Ads placement
So, I’ve targeted the audience that most of them don’t know about Adsense, to make most of them click on the Adsense ads, I work on the ads placement. As you see in my construction blog, I place all the Adsense ads at the place where people can see it at the first page without scrolling. So, these increase the possibility that people will click on it if they found something interesting with the Adsense content.

My experience : I just changed it to my current themes on last Friday night, when I checked my Adsense earning on Saturday morning, I found that there was an increase on the number of clicks and earning. With that said, the blog themes might affect the number of clicks as well. Remember, be careful when you’re placing Adsense in your blog, make sure you’re not against their TOS.

Conclusion

So far this is what I observed from my new baby construction blog. I’ll be adding more informations and my experience when I found something new with it. If you want to build up a new blog and plan to make money online with Adsense too, find your favourite topic and make sure you’re not targeting audience who knows about Adsense, perhaps you can target housewife, business man, contractor, and etc.

This is about trial and error, I can’t guarantee that you’re 100% able to make big money from Adsense with your blog. You have to try it yourself and learn from it. Perhaps you can drop me a comment if you have any problem and we might able to discuss further.
