How To Sell More Banner Ads
In a year of make money blogging, I’ve sold lot of banner ads to more than 10 direct advertisers. I’m going to share my experience about how to make money online by selling more banner ads with your blog. There is a few common tips but uselful :
1) Ads placement
Whenever an advertiser decides to buy a banner ads in your blog, he will see where his banner ads will be appeared. Of course, the higher you place, the higher the chance he will buy your banner ads. So, place the ads as high as you can, the best is everyone can view the banner ads without scrolling the page.
2) Traffics And Ranking
This is the most important factor that not only affect the decision of advertiser to buy your banner ads, it’s also affecting the rate that you charge for the banner ads. Advertiser might want see to how many unique visitor and page views you have in a day or month, so that you can bring them more traffics to their site to buy their products or whatever else.
In term of ranking, I’m talking about Pagerank and Alexa rank, most of the advertisers are looking at this 2 factors to decide whether it’s worth to buy your banner ads. The higher rank you have, the higher chance to sell your banner ads.
3) Rate For A Banner Ads
This is the most important factor that an advertiser will see. Of course, advertiser want to buy a banner ads in cheapest rate. So, you have to set your rate according to your traffics, ranking and ads placement. If all of them are in good condition, huge traffics, higher ranking, highest ads placement, then most probably you can sell in a very good rate.
But before you set the rate, it’s recommended to check how much that your competitors charge. Your competitors are those who have similar niche with yours. If you have same traffics, ranking, and ads placement with them, but your rate is higher than them, then you’re just killing your blog or website. Make sure the rate is reasonable.
Remember : If you set high rate, you sell less; If you set low rate, you sell more.

I have not heard of selling banner ads, this is a really good idea though. I visited the site as well, it looks like it works well for both sides and they both make money. Love the idea.
@MMH, It’s a very common monetization method for a blog or website, perhaps you can try it now to make more money with your blog. If you’re confident to get advertiser by yourself, then you can handle it yourself without paying commission to the company as middle man.
