No worries Herman, that’s not a stupid question and I asked the same question when I first started online.

Google Adsense pays by checks, they currently don’t pay via paypal. When you register, you’re required to fill in the name that they’re going to send the checks to, so fill in your real name instead of blog URL. Payee name and blog URL will be in separate section, so no conflict from there.

Paypal allows you to open account with only email address, example leekahoong@hotmail.com, myblog2day@gmail.com and etc. It doesn’t need to be a registered company, anyone can sign up.

I appreciate your quick reply which is impressive. As a layman, I have a stupid question: say, I have created a blog named ABC.com and want to make money by advertising. How do I receive payment from advertisers like Google Ads when my real name is Herman instead of ABC.com? When I sign up with the advertisers, can I make it clear that they should pay to Herman even though the blog is named ABC.com? Do they send cheques or do they pay by bank transfers like paypal? Will paypal allow me to open an account called ABC.com but it is just a blog, not a registered company?

Sure why not? You can even buy it at Godaddy and change the nameserver to Hostgator. I would really appreciate if you could sign up under my affiliate link, I could help you out with the nameserver and show you step-by-step. Nope, it’s just an easy job. What about buying the domain name at Netfirms and then host the website at HostGator? Hostgator charges $12 (after 20% discount) plus $10 for domain privacy, while Netfirms only charges $7.99 with domain privacy included. Will it be very troublesome to do it separately?

Price is not what I concern, performance and support is. Hostgator is reliable and they have almost 100% uptime, that is what I want. :)
