How To Improve Page Rank By Link Exchange

by Lee Ka Hoong on August 11, 2008

Actually request a link exchange with a site is easy, but to find a relevant and useful sites that can help to improve your blog’s Page Rank to do link exchange is difficult. The links from other blogs/websites to your blog, we called it “Inbound link“, those links from your blog to others’ blog/website, we called it “Outbound link“. So if you want to get better Page Rank for your blog, you must have more quality Inbound link and also Outbound link. All the links are one of the most important factors for high search engine rankings. This is how my blog get it’s PR2.

If you want to get high search engine rankings on Google, Yahoo and other major search engines, then your blog must have many good and quality inbound links. Let say your blog have just a 30 high quality inbound link, that’s mean you win a blog that has 100 bad quality inbound link.

How to ensure that a link is quality link or no qualify link ? So there is a few points that make good quality inbound link to your blog :

1) The link should use the keyword in the anchor text
- If you want to get high rankings for a search term like “Make money from home”, then the links to your blog should use exactly the same anchor text, you have to tell your buddies to put this anchor text on their link page.

2) Link exchange with relevant site
- Practice to do link exchange with relevant site, let say i have a Blogging Tips blog, so i will find relevant content blog with me to do link exchange. Google will likes the relevant site than unrelevant site.

3) The link must not have a nofollow attribute
- Do not put “nofollow” to the relevant blog link. The nofollow attribute tells search engines that they should not follow the link. Links with that nofollow attribute don’t help your search engine rankings.

Conclusion, try to do link exchange with relevant blog/websites, this can helps to improve you Page Rank. This is how I get Pagerank 2 for my blog last few weeks. Google will give out Page Rank to every quality blogs / websites every 3-4 months. So I predict Google will update our Page Rank in the coming 3months which is October, so start doing well in your link building, remember do not write paid post, it will kill your blog !

Google have a weird way to calculate the PR of website.

Darren : My site also just has PR2 after 3months blogging. Hope i can gain PR 3 or PR 4 in the next coming months, because Google will give out PR to every site every 3-4months =)

Of course it’s possible to gain PR 3 and higher, but you may need to have better content, quality inbound and outbound link. Many top bloggers gain PR4 and above =)

Shireishou : Actually visitors do not affect your PR, lost of your PR may affected by other factors.

Do you write paid post like SponsoredReviews or PayPerPost in your cosplay blog ?

I think a few items need clarification.

* PageRank is only for Google. It’s a proprietary system and is only one factor in the actual ranking or listing of a page in search results. Note how there’s no space — PageRank is a proper noun and is only relevant to Google.

* PageRank is a factor of inbound links only. Linking out has no direct effect on PR, nor does linking to quality pages. Linking out may affect PR in a roundabout way, but it’s not explicitly part of the PR calculation.

* Links that aren’t part of an exchange are more valuable than reciprocal links. That is, Google can usually tell when you have an arrangement with another site, and reportedly devalues those links compared to one-way links. That’s not to say that they’re worthless, but if you can get links without linking back, aim for that as well.

Nope.. I can say from 1 month posting (Daily update), maybe only 1 and maximum 2 review post. As far as I remember, for a year only less than 5 review on that blog. My UANG blog is writing review more than that but the PR is fine

Shireishou : hmm..im not very sure about it..maybe some other factors that affect your PR drop from 3 to 0.

Maybe your cosplay blog contains xxx photo or anything else ? since when you lost your PR3 ?

I have one blog [PR0] and a company site [PR2]. Both of them are low traffic, but I have more traffic on my blog than my company site. I don’t really know how they work. So, I will say don’t take it too serious.

Andy T : PageRank of a site is not determined by your traffic. Google determine your PR through your inbound link, which means those site link to your site. The more relevant content blog link to your blog, you will get high PR.

tushar : There is nothing to check your blog is Nofollow or Dofollow attribute, you can built you blog with Nofollow or Dofollow. It’s depend how kind are you to give your reader a link love =)

Let say you do a link exchange with http://www.A.com, if you do it Nofollow, search engine spider will not look into http://www.A.com because you ask it not to follow this link. So, http://www.A.com won’t get any link love from you.

I prefer make it Dofollow to reward my readers, they are spending time to read my articles and leaving comments, so I want to feed them with LOVE ! =)

Discovering quality, relevant sites to link exchange with is the most difficult part of this process hands down IMO.

TheCelebrityCafe : Yeap, it’s really to get relevant sites to link exchange because they treat you as their competitor. But it’s great if you can get it. Between, link exchange doesn’t help much in improving search engine ranking but great and fresh content to Google will do. =)
TheCelebrityCafe thank you for visiting my blog for the first time!
