Is Your Blog Focused Enough to Make Money Online?

This is a guest post by Trent Brownrigg. If you want to guest post on this blog, check out the guidelines here.

So you have heard there are a lot of people sitting at home all day making money from their blogs, and now you want to do it too. That’s great! But don’t just jump right in and start writing about anything that comes to your mind. That’s not the way to go about it if you actually want to earn an income from your blog.

If you are going to make money blogging or even become a well known professional blogger then you need to make sure you are not writing about sporadic topics that have nothing in common. Your blog needs to be focused on a central niche and related topics. Therefore, before you even start your blog you need to do some research and planning to find a profitable niche. Then, keep your blog content targeted towards that particular niche.

Let’s take the blog you are reading right now MyBlog2Day.com as an example. This blog is all about teaching you how to blog and make money online, and you will see that almost all the posts are about topics related to doing that. You will also see the categories of this blog are things like SEO tips, make money online, blogging tips, link building, affiliate marketing, internet marketing, and so on. They are all related in some way and they all fall under the general topic of this blog.

It would be really weird to see posts on this blog about basket weaving, cat training, plant care, home decor, or any other topic that has absolutely nothing to do with what this blog is about. It would confuse visitors so they would probably just leave. It would also confuse the search engines so they wouldn’t know what keywords to rank this blog for. You can’t make money if your visitors leave right away and the search engines don’t rank your blog for anything.

Now, that’s not to say that every single post on your blog always has to be closely related to the main niche of your site. Sometimes you can throw in a personal post about other things but it’s not good to do it very often if you are in this for the money. Start a new blog if there’s something else you want to blog about on a frequent basis. It’s better to have several blogs about various topics than it is to have one blog talking about everything.

Remember, you can make money blogging but it’s not easy. There are many things that need to be done before you will begin to bring in a decent income from your blog. And one of the main things is choosing the right niche then writing content focused on topics related to that niche.

So, go get started right now!
