ehow was in second place, the old article you mention is in third position now. I check the backlinks of the old article, it seems like it has only 52 links, mostly internal.

All I see from the facts you compiled shows this niche is wide open (partly from the long tail keyword) which explain why google return some weak competing site on top. In fact the result return by google shows near relevant to your search phrase. Talk about niche market point of view, you’re right on your analysis.

Nonetheless, online survey never goes with me. I tried a few which often spam my mail saying a new survey is open but soon as I login, they said the survey is closed. The only few surveys I took, pay few cents only and they have high payout trash hold of about $50, since then I just brushed aside online survey – lol.

Having a niche blog based on online surveys can be quite profitable as most folks are still very keen on trying out online surveys but then you’d have to be good in sourcing great posts.

You have to becareful with a post like this. When you use Google’s keyword tool, always put the setting on “Exact”.

You can’t rank better than someone just because you have better content. Those sites in top 3 have good anchor text backlinks pointing back to the sites. Google is blind when it comes to good content. It only knows backlinks.
