I’m so busy this few days due to final semester examination is coming, tonnes of test and assignment almost kill me. Between, I’ve received a question from my reader (BM) regarding my previous post, I said that Pagerank was important for search engine ranking, BM was asking why I said that Pagerank was important I have PR0 now. Okay, I write this post is to answer BM’s inquiry and also answer my previous post, I’m going to say that Pagerank not really important and not really affect our search engine ranking, maybe it does affect search engine ranking but not 100%.
Answer BM’s Inquiry
BM : You’re telling me that PR is important, but you’re got a PR zero. Done something wrong?
Answer : Yes, I did sell text link before and my Pagerank was slapped by Google from PR2 to PR0, I did mention it in my previous post. I said that pagerank did affect our search engine ranking previously, but I have to pull back my word and say pagerank doesn’t really affect our search engine ranking.

Pagerank doesn’t really affect our search engine ranking, my pagerank was slapped by Google few months ago, my optimized keyword is still stay in page 3 or 4 in Google Search Result, I get into Top 10 of keyword of “Make Money Blogging” few days ago and I realized that Pagerank doesn’t really affect our search engine ranking.
If you realize, when you search for something else (i.e. Food), sometimes you will see the lowest or without PR’s site will appear in the Top 10 search result while those blog with high PR will sit at the back. Yea, perhaps Pagerank will affect search engine ranking, but it takes a very small portion. Perhaps Pagerank takes the large portion, but fresh and unique content takes the biggest portion right now, it’s the big factor that affect our search engine ranking.
I still do like to get back my PR although PR doesn’t affect search engine ranking, PR is something like a “medal” for me, I feel proud to have it. I’d already sent a reconsideration letter to Google last month and still wait them to review my blog again, but I’m not rush to get it back because I think that build great content is more important than everything. Lisa : Yea, it’s depend on our content actually. So I have to pull back my word and say Pagerank is not really important for search engine ranking since I can get into Top 10 of my keyword although I have PR0. “Google Search Result”.

it’s always good to have a high PR, i agree it’s like a medal of your achievement..i still believe high ranking PR is worth it but the real benefits of it are still lying out there somewhere…maybe we can write to google and ask them about it….LOL
|1f34|-|1r3 : Haha, yea I prefer to have high PR too. It’s like a level of a blog, the higher PR you have the higher level you’re in (It’s my thought, not true want).
That’s why PR is not important and doesn’t really affect search engine ranking, with this 2 things, I prefer high search engine ranking.
Page rank is basically a measure of the blog’s authority. If 10 other blogs mentioned about your blog, it is considered having more authority than those blog with no blogs mentioning it.
Personally, page rank is still important in search engine result ranking. You don’t want to be the top 10 for only the keywords Make Money Blogging right? If you have better PR, you will even able to appear on front page of keywords like “Pagerank search engine ranking”.
Believe me you will have unique visitors coming from search engine in three digits

banji : Oh, in the beginning I think that PR is very important for search engine ranking, but when I get into Top10 with PR0, I thought PR is not really affect ranking. But maybe it’s truth as what you said banji, I’ve to look at it when I got my PR back. Thanks banji for the info !
james : Of course onpage and offpage factors are both important for SEO. Onpage means the SEO that you can do it within your page like optmizing keyword, Title tag, header, and so on, it’s fast. While Offpage means the SEO that you cant do it in short time, which you may need others to link you (Link exchange), backlinks, and so on. hai, even PR is not effect your SEO, but is it still effected when we want to find some advertiser for our blog… my blog is still PR 0 it’s hard to find advertiser for my blog

salman : Yea, some advertiser would consider our PR, traffic before they want to invest their money to advertise on our blog. Don’t worry about it bro, just keep on blogging, when you blog grow then money will follow, that time is advertisers look for you but not you look for advertisers. ehm..depends on you. you like PR or not? If you like, you can make money with your PR. If you not like, you can still make money without PR. So far, i try to earn from both way.
tunepal : Actually we can make money with PR and also without PR, just like me I can make money although I have no PR right now. But having PR, advertiser might like to buy my space. Other than that, PR can slightly increase your search engine ranking as well, perhaps it’s not much but still effected. I don’t mind about PR now, but it’s better if I get it too. =)
I rely on pagerank for advertising. Other than that, I don’t rely on it for search ranking at all.

Susan : Ya, Pagerank is only for Advertising purpose while many advertisers depend on your traffic and Pagerank to decide whether they want to spend money to advertise in your blog or not. Pagerank does affect search engine ranking also, but it’s really not that effectiveness, just a slightly effect. I would say build up great and fresh content that relevant with your blog niche can helps to boost your search engine ranking.
Interesting post. My theory is that even though we all work to obtain a high GPR and a low Alexa rating, none of them really matter. The ONLY thing that matters is where do you show up in the serps for the keyword you are targeting. Case in point, I purchased a killer domain name with three EXCELLENT words in it. It had a GPR 4 when I bought it and it was 6 years old. The GPR 4 stayed with it for a couple of months until I tried an experiment. You get offers all the time to purchase links so I said, let’s give it a go and sent $14.00 US to some company in India and they inserted 100 links on various boards and lists. Within three weeks I went down to GPR 0 and the big G converted all of my Adsense ads on that site to public service ads, where they stayed for about a month. I just replaced the Adsense ads yesterday with some nice looking affiliate banners, no problem. But guess what? After all of that description of the whole process, I still rank “Page one, Number one” in the serps for the 3 keyword phrase that is strictly a phrase used in the purchase of goods of all types. The site is still doing fine with traffic and revenue. Still, I learned a valuable lesson and am glad that it did not happen on one of my primary blogs.

Rich Hill : Great to see you here Rich! In my opinion, affiliate program only popular in your country or other country except in my local. Not much people willing to pay money to buy something through online. I have tried affiliate program before and I found that it’s not working in my blog so I’d taken down it few months ago. With my experience, I found that PR doesn’t affect search engine ranking, I can rank well in Page One with my keyword phase even though I get slapped by Google to PR0. With that said, as long as your site doesn’t de-indexed by Google for some reasons, that’s alright!

my blog also already losing pagerank. From PR3, it drop to PR0. Waa..thats crazy!! But its fine. I earn well from my blog. Even its PR0, but many advertiser want to buy link or space at my blog because i got around 5-9k unique visitor per month.
titan : Ops, But it doesn’t matter to you right? Since you make so much money without PR. A blog can make money or not is depending on their traffic but not PR. Between, titan you got very good traffics right now lo, I know your blog is growing right now! Congrats titan!
But if i have pagerank, i have many thing to do with that and i can make more money with that. Combination between alexa rank, traffic and pagerank, really can make us earn more money.

titan : Ya! In order to make money online, it requires traffic, ranking and pagerank. If you don’t get anyone of it, it’s really difficult to make money through blog. This is what I learnt for 7-8months in blogosphere! I’m happy that I’m a blogger and I love to be a blogger!

TNH : Go to Google Webmaster Tools, then there is a word “Request Reconsideration” parked under “Talk To Google” at your right hand side. Then just tell Google what you had done and ask them for reconsideration. But must in kind attitude ya, they might need few weeks to review your site again or few months, because there are tonnes of people request for reconsideration also including me. I have not get back my PR yet, but I don’t mind now, just wait for the next PR update and see how is it.

well, imho, kalo makin tggi PR, iklan dari google makin mahal…which mean, more PR with same click, will give more earning than lower PR with same click…it happened to me lol…from pr2 drop to pr1…trying to bring back my old pr…the earn is dropping…btw, i’m not pro bloggers like you all, still trying to earn money for buy hosting+domain…and never get check from google before..

I’ve learned that page rank affects only 10% of what Google uses to derive the search engine ranking. The equation being used is this:
PR (10%) + Quality Contents (30%) + Backlinks (60%) = Top Search Engine Success (SERP)
Coincidentally my last post talked about this as I just got PR4 for my homepage but since PR’s influence is only about 10%, it’s not a big deal. Well if you’re interested to read a little more information about page rank:

I agree with you Peter, Google has changed their algorithm in Web2.0. So, pagerank does take the small portion to affect the SERPS. I’ve read your recent post, you have very great technique in getting a PR4 for your main page. Keep it up Peter!
