Poll : How Many Blog Do You Own And Manage?

by Lee Ka Hoong on July 19, 2009

In blogopshere, all people have different purposes when it comes to blogging. Some of them build a blog for their interests, some of them build a blog to make money online. In fact, I do have many niche blogs that target different profitable keywords to make money online with Google Adsense. In my point of view, one blog doesn’t make you much money every month, says $1000 per month from Google Adsense or any other pay per click programs. I’m talking about make money online with Google Adsense or other pay per click programs only, but not making money by selling banner ads or text link.

So, I would like to create a poll and see how many blog do you all actually own and manage to make money online from all your blogs. The purpose of this poll is to proof that my statement is true, which is a single blog will not make you $1000 per month from pay per click programs, therefore you might need more profitable niche blogs to make it possible.

After voting your answer, please leave a comment below to tell me your answer and also how much money you’ve made from all your blogs every month purely from pay per click programs such as Google Adsense.

@Dan aka Tycoon Blogger,
Thanks for participating the poll Dan. You have a lot of blogs, currently I’m managing 5 niche blogs, 3 blogs are slow in updating. Between, I do have more than 10 sites, I’ve created and forgotten about them, because my brother is monitoring them.
Btw, I’m having problem visiting your blogs right now. I’ll check them out again later.

Well, I don’t really think you need a lot of blog to make money online. Unless you pay people to take care of the other blog. I couldn’t be effective with more than one blog at a time. I have so much to do with my current blog that I won’t launch another blog before I reach what I was aiming for. My blog’s alexa rank is growing more and more, and I’m fully satisfied with my current earnings. I won’t write about my earnings yet. I have to track all the earnings I made before doing it. I think we should make one things properly at once. When I’ll reach a certain popularity with my blog, I’ll then invest some of my blog earning into another blog, etc…

@Benjamin,
You’re right, but I will still support my point which is one blog won’t be making you thousand from pay per click network a month. In fact, I’m not saying that you have to build a few niche blogs and develop them one shot, you need to build them 1 by 1. As you said, hit the target that you’ve set for your first blog, then only go for 2nd blog. You’re doing very well Benjamin, keep it up. :)

I’m agree with that..If you plan well about your blog, you could make money online with just one blog. this type of blog take a long time to build. As long as you have massive traffic and huge readers you can earn money. This type of blog usually has main income stream from private ads. having a few blog also got some advantages which is we can backup our blog if one of our blog go down or die.

@fazreen,
Yea, the more blogs you have, the more money you can make, but you have to develop them 1 by 1. After you’ve build one and this blog starts to make money, then only go for 2nd blog (if you still able to manage both of them). Otherwise, you need to look for outsource and pay people to manage your blog. Between, I’ll keep other of my blogs invisible as I just want them to be reached by search engine traffic, so I’ll only display my main blog to the public. :D

Perhaps there is some people could makes this happens, but not much of them. I believe that the blog which makes more than USD100 per day should be more than 1-2years old, am I right? :) I think they should have tons of article and come with good search engine ranking for some popular keywords.

Well, I have one blog and it takes 80% of my time spent online. The rest is spent visiting other sites and doing research. I don’t earn millions from adsense at all, I earn very little. I would say I earn around $10 on average. I’m still trying new things on adsense like where to place it and what works for me.

Yes, this is the right way to build more profitable niche blog. If you try to build all the niche blogs together, I’m sure you won’t be able to manage all of them well, end up all fail together.

Yeah, that is true. It is fine to have a few niches in one (if they are pretty closely related), but it would not work to have a blog that talks about Sports, and then Internet Marketing.

I don’t see how some people have 10+ blogs — seems impossible to manage.

@The Gooroo,
Yeah, blog that talks about Sports and Internet Marketing are very common, and very competitive. I admit that MMO niche is very competitive, but I’m just sharing things that I learned from the internet for years. I believe that people who have 10+ blogs and able to manage, most of them are writers and able to produce great article everyday, it’s just my 2 cents.

Interesting topic. I have 2 blogs now and it takes most of my time to do research and prepare everything. I think create more blogs will make more money from that but with the price of time and effort in exchange. Personally, I think 2-5 blogs are okay as soon as they can maintain it without losing the quality.

Keywords become very competitive now so starting other different niche blog shouldn’t be a bad choice anyway :)

@Alvin Lim,
Yea, maintaining 2-5 blogs should be ideal but you need to build them 1 by 1. Also, don’t try to build few blogs that target the same niche and keyword, end up your blogs compete themselves in the search engine, it’s not fun at all. Building more blogs definitely could make you more money, but you need to spend some times develop and maintain them, otherwise your blogs won’t be staying long in the top ranking.

I do have 5 niche blogs and MANY niche websites as well, I partnership with my brother, all the blogs make money from Adsense as well, but not doing on affiliate sales yet. Yes… my business partner is my best friend, Mark Smith and he does most of the writing on our other sites. He is a MUCH BETTER writer than I am, but I am getting better. I just have a lot more internet marketing experience than he does, so I do a lot of the writing for MakingMoneyOnline.com.

Thanks for the compliment on the domain name. I use to own MakeMoneyOnline.com as well, but sold it several years ago because I needed the money. Definitely one I wish I had kept! I sold if for well under 10 grand, and then the guy I sold it to (who is a buddy of mine now) sold it for $98,000. That bummed me out even more :(

Yes I own more than a niche blog, all of them have different niche, such as food blog (1 blog), construction blogs (3 blogs) and etc. I personally define niche as a specific topic, a blog which writes about specific topic and I call it as niche blog.

It was 11 years ago, that might be very interesting. It was too bad that I started my blogging life a year ago, it was too late to start. Between, $8,000 was not a bad price but seems that your friends made up to 1000% from the price you sold him. Doug, you still have a token on your hand which is “MakingMoneyOnline”, you can still sell it at a good price. I do believe that you had earned quite a lot of money by selling premium domain years ago, don’t you? :D

Reply

46 Doug Dillard (18 comments.) July 25, 2009 at 11:45 pm

The guy I sold it was not my friend before I sold him the domain, we became friends after… as we have lots of business dealings. He also sold MyBlog.com for $400,000 back in 2005. He has done much better in the domain reselling business than I ever did :(

Yes… I have been offered A LOT of money for MakingMoneyOnline.com over the years, but I could never part with it. So finally I decided to use some of the things I have learned over the years and make it a website. My goal is to make it to #1 in Google for the search term, “Making Money Online”. It is moving up pretty fast… so we will see.

@Doug Dillard,
Oh I see, seems that domain reselling was the hottest way that people used to make money as most of the competitive domain name had not been occupied by anyone else, no more for now. I think your “friend” was doing better than you when it came to domain reselling business, $400,000 is really a huge figure, I’m sure he is rich now. ;)
Doug, don’t sell it unless you have really good offer from others, the keyword “Making Money Online” is as hot as “Make Money Online”, I believe that you could make more money from this domain if you develop it wisely. Also, a blog is much more better than a website when it comes to search engine optimization, it’s more SEO friendly. Perhaps we could help each other in the coming days too. :D
