Reasons Why Google Slaps Our Pagerank

Ladder

Google updates our pagerank once every 3-4 months, last pagerank updated was July, I got my PR2 and I was very happy with that. Unfortunately, I lost my pagerank due to selling text link. Everytime Google updates webmasters’ and bloggers’ pagerank, of course there will be someone happy and someone sad, some gain their PR and some lost their PR. Look for future, not temporary money and happy.

For those who lost their PR like me, of course there was some other factors that Google slapped our PR. I noticed that Google is very strict on those who sell text link on their blog, Google has very good system to detect it and know that you’re doing something that against their rules.

Reasons That Make Google Slap Our Pagerank

1) Selling Text Link
Obviously, Google’s webmaster guide has stated it clearly that selling text links can lose your pagerank. But sometimes money blind your eyes, you can make some money, but it’s temporary. You won’t a cent after you lose your PR, and you lost traffic due to decreasing of search engine ranking. You can sell text links without losing your PR, but you have to play with their rules.

2) Excessively of Outbound Link
Link exchange is good in improving pagerank and traffic, but excessive of outbound link can cause you lose your PR. Make sure your outbound link is worth linking, be sure your buddy didn’t penalized by Google. Make sure the site you link to is relevant and quality site. Perhaps you can build up fresh and great content first, if your readers found that they would like to share your articles in their blog and link to you, this is the best link ever, because Google love it!

3) Widgetbucks
Recently I found an article in Jeremy’s blog about it. This is a short sentence quoted by Jeremy in Terms & Conditions from Widgetbucks.

Back-links placed by Mpire in the HTML code must not be removed.

I think this is the reason that why Google banned widgetbucks. You can’t see any site from widgetbucks in Google search anymore. I believe that those who lost their PR, maybe one of the reason is Widgetbucks.

4) Unauthorized Program
Never use unauthorized program or software to submit your articles, it’s very easy and fast. By clicking your mouse in 1 time and you can get your articles to be sent to thousand of directories. Remember, it’s against Google’s Terms of Service.

5) Spamming Article With Irrelevant Keywords
We also call it keyword stuffing, which mean spamming your keyword everywhere without relation with the article topic. Other than spamming keywords, hiding text in your article may kill your blog too. Google hates it very much, Google want us to build fresh and great content to readers, at the same time Google want us to do little work for them as well.

Pagerank is very important for a blog because it affects our search engine ranking, search engine traffic, and money as well. Some of them don’t like PR because they think that having PR or don’t have PR is still the same, I don’t agree it because I realized that pagerank really affects search engine ranking, because the ranking for my niche has dropped to few pages behind. It proved that pagerank is really important for me and everyone too.

Do you have any ideas on why Google slaps our Pagerank? Please don’t be shy to share it with us and we can keep an eye on it.

Slipper : Erm, it depends how you write your article, make sure you’re not purposely repeating the keyword. Write in natural way. =)

Tang : Google just slapped our Pagerank, don’t worry Tang, we still can use Adsense or Picasa. If we lost our PR, it just drops our search engine ranking and traffic. You still can use other Google tools. =)

azrin : Haha, it depends how long they took and depends how many people request for reconsiderations too, I’m still queeu-ing in the line. I don’t write paid post at all, I took down text link too, but Nuffnang should be ok, because it’s not against Google’s TOS. =)

You experienced lost of PR too ? How long did you get back your PR ?

So far the Widgetbucks issue is not conclusive, so I don’t think it’s fair to exactly put it as part of your 5 reasons. btw look at Text Link Ads, they’re also not in Google search result either. :)

And you realize PR affect the search result? on what basis? The result drop of your page is not in any way conclusive of PR and its relation to search result. From what I see, it could just be that so happen others on the same niche did something better than you, thus your page dropped.

I’ve seen lower PR sites beat higher PR sites on some search too, so I think that is enough to prove that PR and SERP are not related so close until losing of PR would drop the result down a few pages. :)

Do understand the difference between Google Search Results and Google PageRank. While G.PR is a matter of link votes, Google Search Results are of a really huge complex algorithm that’s not sided on PR.

Lastly, I got my lost PR back in less than 7 days. The Google people were helpful and fast. :D

makesomemoneywme : Btw, I don’t see any site from Widgetbucks appear in Google search result also, it’s weird. Sometimes it’s really weird, no one know what Google do, I heard somebody using TLA for few months d, but his PR4 still maintained.
Ya, I admit some lower PR site can beat higher PR sites, but I believe Google might take PR as 1 of their consideration in determine ranking too. Of course, there are many other factors as well. Content is the main important factor.

Hmm..you’re so lucky that Google give back your PR in short time. Congratulation! =)

There’s no denying that PR will be part of determining results, but not because of PR itself but because of what made the PR – the incoming links. :)

I’m sure they do consider that, but not until like wah so power drop a bit PR also affecting it like how you put it! :D

The thing I’m not sure of is when the PR penalty is given, does Google still consider the backlinks. I think they do.

So how? did you contact them / appeal yet?

makesomemoneywithme : Hmm I’m not sure whether they really take PR as a part of determining results. I check my keyword result and always at the same result or improve a little bit, but after I lost my PR, it drop to about 2-3 pages behind, perhaps other factors cause it. =)

Yea, I send the reconsideration letter to them already, but maybe my letter still in queue. I heard someone that her PR came back in 1 month. I will follow up with Google again next week. =)

I also sell text link in my blog fortunately, last PR updated my blog PR maintain.
This issue have been discuss over years. Look, google itself sell text link to advertiser. They slapped our PR because google hate their competitors. IF you really want to make money just ignore it. For experience bloggers, they know how to deal with it. One of their blog was penalized, more blog will build up later. So chill !

@Fazreen,
But Google is the one who judge your blog to be in top page or last page in search engine. I prefer myself to have PR and higher SERPS. I do make more money than selling text link with my current rank. It’s my first blog (I have few other niche blogs), so I want to keep it healthy. :)
