Guest Posting is probably the most important thing you could do for your blog. I know you want to use that post on your own blog, but instead, donate it to other blogs, and in return you get a link back to your website in the post! This is a great way to reach out to subscribers from other blogs.
It’s not even like you’re tricking the blog owner into using your blog post, they know that you’re donating it to promote yourself, and that’s okay. That is the whole point, so don’t be afraid of it (just kidding).
There is never a time when guest posting is a bad idea, never. Here is a list of some of the perks:
- You will get at least 1 link to your blog. There should never be a time that you submit a guest post and don’t get a referral link. It is important to do link building, and this is just another way of doing that.
- You get a traffic boost. If you post on blogs with a decent amount of visitors, then you are almost certainly guaranteed to get a boost in traffic! It’s virtually impossible not to. If someone likes your blog post, they will want to know more about you, so therefore they will click on the Author, and find a link to your blog! It won’t last forever, but if you keep up the posting then you will always be getting traffic!
- Gain Exposure. The more you post, the more likely you are to reach people that have never heard of you before. When more and more people discover you, it starts to show in your traffic. People begin sharing your link, and talking about you, and they probably even subscribe to you.
Of course, this all depends on the success of your blog post. If you want your Guest Post to be successful, here is some advice:
- Post on popular blogs. The more exposure their blog has, the more exposure you’ll get as well.
- Make sure you submit posts that are good quality. If you want to attract people, they have to be interested in your post, or they will probably not be interested in you.
- How is the blog related to your niche? In some way, the blog your posting on should be related to your blog. It doesn’t have to be your exact niche, but the readers of their blog should be interested in what you have to offer.
- How’s your blog? The quality of you own blog should be decent as well so that people will want to subscribe to you after visiting your website.
It is important to keep in mind that guest posting is mutually beneficial to you and the blog owner. They are getting more content, and you are getting traffic. You will probably not get better exposure in any other way than guest posting. You should at least give it a try, and who knows, you could get popular enough to go viral!

I do agree with you, we have to set a target or an action plan for ourselves, but sometimes we just can’t follow the plan as we scheduled. Perhaps a competition with another similar niche blogger would be great. Says a $100 bet, people who fail to follow the plan or achieve the goal pays $100 to the other. I’ve seen TylerCruz done this before. What you think Andrew?

That sounds pretty cool Andrew! Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the deal at the moment, I have just accepted a project from a client and that need to be done in a few weeks time. Andrew, I’ll definitely challenge you on that when I complete my project, perhaps on next month, I’ll keep you updated. By the way, 2 guest posts a month seems easy, 4 guest posts a month would be more challenging, meaning 1 guest post a week. We may get more people to get involved too.

4 guest posts a month is a challenging goal. Personally I would not be able to go after such an aggressive goal. It would just take too much time away from my other efforts. Still, if you’re going to do anything with your time, guest posting is right up there.

it makes a lot of sense to blog on popular blogs. it gives maximum exposure.
There are many benefits one can reap from guest posting. One added suggestion is to never give up and stick to your plan. I would recommend quality over quantity (if can have both that’s even better). :-)

Glad to see you here again Ching Ya. Yes you’re right about quality over quantity, that’s very true. A blog with 100 quality backlinks may outrank another blog with 1000 bad quality backlinks. Guest posting is the best way I believe to build quality backlink, it would help to build a healthy community around the niche as well.

I agree with you. To be honest I haven’t done enough guest posting but I am just starting to guest post more. There really are no disadvantages to creating guest posts except for taking up some of your time. But the advantages can be huge.
