The Power of Reviews and Downloads For Bloggers

This article is guested post by Zahid Lilani.

It is very important for bloggers to have a stream of new visitors. The first place people go to when they are looking for something online is a search engine. Being a blogger for over two years, I have discovered that most of the time people who visit my blog do so because they are looking for reviews or downloads. For some this might not be a major source of search engine traffic but for most of you it can prove to be very powerful.

Reviews

Most people currently turn to the internet for research before they purchase anything. They are looking for reviews and want to see a personalized take on the product they plan to purchase. If you land on a consumer report website, you get a very generalized review under ideal conditions. If you go to something like yelp, you have no idea of the motive behind the review. Blogs, on the other hand, offer the same review with a personalized experience. A generic review is hardly ever found on a blog because you the blogger will make sure that your experience with the product in question really reflects the fact that you have used the product. Rule of thumb here is not to review products that you don’t yourself use.

If you currently don’t review products on your blog then you are missing out on free targeted search engine traffic. Let me also mention here that your reviews don’t really have to be consumer products, it can be a website, a restaurant etc.

Downloads

Internet users are always looking for downloads, from software to documents. There are lots of free downloads available that you can talk about on your blog. If you blog about music, then have free music related downloads, if your passion is in talking about technology then look for tutorials and how to guides online and make it available on your blog.

Free is a magic word and it works every time. My personal blog is a live example of both reviews and downloads. I tend to stay away from downloads because of copyright concerns but there are companies out there that encourage free distribution of their intellectual property, your job is just to find those downloads.

Btw, can I know what download link do you like to make?
Usually you’ve to pay the people who do Review for your blog, if you would like to get paid, then you have to do review about their products or blogs if they require you to do so. :)
