Upgraded To Wordpress 2.70

by Lee Ka Hoong on December 28, 2008

Wordpress Logo

I just upgraded my food blog to Wordpress 2.70, I’m still using Wordpress 2.50 for this blog. I upgraded my blog because of some little error while installing my food blog, when I write a new post, I can’t view “Visual’ and “HTML”, so I just decided to upgrade it to Wordpress 2.70.

So far, nothing much changed in Wordpress 2.70 but the design is changed. Other than this, I don’t see any “Visual” and “HTML” button too when I write a new post. But then there is a button named “Preview” that you can preview the real sample post on your blog, that’s the thing I like because sometimes the photo size is bigger than the width and make the photo out of the box.

Wordpress 2.70

I just upgraded it few hours ago and don’t see any problem or error yet, so I will test it and update with you all if I found any problems in Wordpress 2.70.

So, anyone of you had upgraded your Wordpress to Wordpress 2.70? Do you face any problems with the Wordpress 2.70?

Sudah :) But I don’t like it, very complicated. I prefer to stick with older version.

lol brother I saw your post submitted on Innit when coming home. Anyway, 2 things I like in ver 2.7 are the Quick Posting and it’s very firm. Previously, I can’t add my widgets simply now can. That’s why you see me changing my theme always. lol i changed back too cause I like it.

twenty six : Oh seems that you’re not using Wordpress. But, Wordpress is a really simple and friendly user blog platform. Recommended! You should try this if you want to start a blog. :)

Mike : Oh, no wonder I always saw you changed your themes. Between, I use it in my food blog now and still trying to get used to it. But seems not that difficult to handle too. :)

kew : Oh that’s great! Everything seems great for me too, so far nothing happen! But then I still like the old version Wordpress, haha seems more easier to use! But, we have to upgrade ourselves too, right? ;)

azlan : Oh, maybe I’m not familiar with it yet, so I was a little bit slow when I used it. I think the previous one is more friendly user, but then how we also have to upgrade 1 haha. So I upgrade my food blog and maintain this blog. :)

titan : Haha yea, same with me. Don’t upgrade all first, if there is some bugs then all your blogs gone. So, test with few blogs first before you apply to all. :)

Thinking about upgrading. Always see the reminder in the dashboard. LOL.
But I’m actually a little worried if something fatally wrong may occur. So I may need to back up WP database before messing around first. :)

Ulrik : I’m not upgrading through the dashboard notice 1, I download the Wordpress 2.70 from the Wordpress.org then I copy and replace the file via F.T.P. But it took quite some times to upload because the connection keep disconnect, or maybe the files too big already, so I upload bit by bit and it had been done in 30minutes. So far, I don’t see any problems yet. But you’re right, before I copy and replace my file, I did back up my database first, file losing is the most serious thing while upgrading. So, back up first is the best way!
So you upgrade already? :)

myadlan : Yea you’re right! WP keep updating their version now and I’m sure they will launch new version again in next few months. Between, how do you upgrade your WP ? Upgrading via copy and replace with your FTP or click the “Update” button at your WP dashboard? Perhaps you can try to open your FTP, then copy and replace the Wp-Admin file? Or else, you have to reinstall your WP. Let me know if you need my help okay? :)

Haha, I better than you, my old version was 2.5 :)
Between, it will be a little bit uncomfortable when you first upgrade, but it will be fine after a few days. Hope you upgrade successfully without a problem! :)
