WebHostingRating – Web Hosting Directory And Review Site

December 7, 2009 · 30 comments

Web hosting plays an important role when it comes to hosting a blog or website, without a web hosting your blog or website couldn’t be able to display on the web, without a web hosting you can’t make money online from blogging or creating websites. Of course, a web hosting is not enough for your blog or website, you need a reliable web hosting.

I was a newbie when I first started my website and blog, I knew nothing about web hosting and didn’t know which was the best web hosting to host my blog and website. There was no web hosting review website like WebHostingGeeks that I mentioned earlier. Today, I found another web hosting review site named Web Hosting Rating, it provides many information about web hosting and it gives you guidance on which is the best web hosting to host your blog and website.

What Is Web Hosting Rating?

Web Hosting Rating is a web hosting rating site and they try to build a world’s largest independent web hosting directory featuring complete information of various web hosting providers, best web hosting offers, limited discount coupons, and unedited web host reviews by real customers.

They have given web hosting ratings on several type of web hosting, such as Linux (Unix) Hosting, Windows Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Hosting, Colocation Hosting, and Managed Hosting. So when you decide which type of web hosting that you like to sign up, click on the particular web hosting and see which is the best web hosting and has been given the highest rating from the customers. That’s what I like as there are many customers giving their reviews for the web hosting that they’ve used before, they write pros and cons of the web hosting.

Top 10 Web Hosting Providers – Best Web Hosts (2009)

Web Hosting Rating has a list of Top 10 Web Hosting Providers in Year 2009. The rating is given by the customers on the web, they give reviews and a rating for the web hosting that they’re using right now, or web hosting that they’ve used before. The list contains information like ranking, price, space, traffic, and rating from customers. From the list, you can click on the customer review and read more information about the web hosting such as contact information, coupons available, web hosting features, pricing and reviews from customers.

Best Web Hosting Award 2009

Besides of the list of Top 10 Web Hosting Providers in Year 2009, Web Hosting Rating gives out a best web hosting award under 12 categories to the web hosting that deserves it. The award is judged by the number of votes that cast by the visitors every month. The 12 categories include Best Budget Hosting, Best Blog Hosting, Best Forum Hosting, Best Unix Hosting, Best Windows Hosting, Best PHP Hosting, Best Email Hosting, Best Ecommerce Hosting, Best Multi-Domain Hosting, Best VPS Hosting, Best Reseller Hosting, and Best Dedicated Hosting.

My Thoughts

Besides of these, Web Hosting Rating has a blog which contains many tips and tricks about web hosting, the blog has about 500 articles in various categories, I’m sure you will find something useful from the blog.

Choosing the right web hosting is a very complicated task for newbies who don’t know about web hosting and don’t know which type of web hosting suits them, so a site like Web Hosting Rating is very useful for them as it gives completed information about the web hosting, and reviews from customers are the key for them to decide which web hosting is suitable to host their blog or website.

I just want to ask you. Did you move your domain also to hostgator?

Sorry but I do not recommend this website hosting review site. In their ‘top 10′ they list my current website host, but they are complete garbage. I’ve had so many problems with them over the years. Coincidentally, they have an affiliate program. So I’m sure that is why they made the top 10 list. WebHostingGeeks is much better with less bias.

I don’t think my hosting company falls under that top list. I used to host my blogs in malaysiahoster.com.my. Then, after almost 2 years, i have problems and I have to migrate to another local hosting company, rawanaz.con which i think is very cheap, affordable and reliable. The funny thing is that, before I migrate to rawanaz, I already open an account with rawanaz… I migrate to rawanaz the second time after the first hosting company i choose have some difficulty with my account, and I don’t know why…

I’m going to get another hosting to host a forum of my own…and I’m going to take a look at the hosting review blog.

Thanks

@cyza,
Web Hosting plays an important role in growing our blog and website, if you have a worst web hosting and it may block the blog or website to grow. If you would like to sign up a web hosting, I recommend Hostgator, that’s the web hosting I’m using right now and I have good experience with that. I would really appreciate if you could sign up under my affiliate link, you would get 20% off from Hostgator and $15 from MyBlog2Day! Simply shoot me an email via the contact form and we can discuss about it. :)

@Chandan,
As JohnChow mentioned, as long as we write honor reviews after reviewing the site and experience it ourselves. Also, we have a Disclosure Policy in our blog, I believe that would be safe. But still I’ll look into it.

When I started looking for webhosts 8 months ago, I also visited these sites. They differ in their ratings especially when it comes to who is really the best. I guess, their being affiliates played a great role in their choices. Anyway, wherever I go now, I believe I haven’t made a mistake in choosing my current webhost because they always are rated within the top 10. Besides, I have personally experienced how great their support team is.

Yes IX Webhosting is brutal. They are one of the worst website hosts out there, yet they make these top 10 lists just because website owners are promoting them in exchange for affiliate commission.

This is exactly what I fear about this whole review and rating thing.

I’ve never really looked at sites like that. I rarely buy anything without at least one personal recommendation from someone I trust.

@Dennis,
Recommendation from some we trust is the best one, I’ve signed up Hostgator because I’ve read many reviews from all big guys and they have good experience with Hostgator too. No doubt, Hostgator is a reliable web hosting though. :)

I think review sites are a good idea. But I question is this a true review site or are they rating companies high because they are affiliated with them

I have read your post and fully understand what you have been thru all this time. I use web hosting for several years already and I have tried several different companies and sites. I found out that a good cheap hosting plan makes all the difference. After using it for several months I recommend master reseller hosting by cropar.com. In my opinion this is a very good, reliable web hosting reseller.

sometimes i don’t believe on websites showing how their service is being graded online, i always look for a web hosting that have good credibility. I have encountered so many web hosting before and some are on the top lists but they don’t provide that good service… I cant suggest a web hosting company but its better to check out the customer’s experience… usually there are blogs that posts their experience on a web hosting company. better check them as well… :)

@Sernan,
Yea that’s why this webhostingrating site is created. It’s complicated to choose the best and reliable web hosting unless we experience it ourselves, otherwise just read the comments from their customers, that’s the only thing we can do. :)

Don’t rely 100% from the site review. Ask a friends is a good way (bloggers).

@Minh,
No doubt, Hostgator is the best and reliable web hosting as I satisfy with their performance and support. Hostgator doesn’t list in WebHostingRating, one of the reason might be the pricing of Hostgator is slightly high, so they just ignore it. ;)

I don’t really think it’s a price thing cos InMotion Hosting charges $8.95 as well as I can see from their list of top 10 Linux Hosting.

One thing that surprises me is that Hostgator never makes these lists. I’m quite happy with them and don’t plan changing them for anything in the world.
