Recently I was looking for some blog contests around the net, I’d came across a site and saw an interesting contest for websites and blogs. I love the concept of the contest, so I’ve joined. I’ve never seen this kind of contest in the past, I’d seen a lot of blog contests which required participants to subscribed Feedburner Newsletter, wrote about the contest with its’ links, did bookmark on bookmarking sites, followed their Twitter account and some other steps. The way others drawn the winner was by randomly draw, but RankingContest organizes a different kind of contest and different way of picking the winner.
What Is The Contest About?

The idea of this contest is based on the percentage change on the site ranking at the end of the contest with reference to the starting ranking.
e.g.
Start of contest – siteA.com => site rank 1,000,000
End of contest – siteA.com => site rank 900,000
% change = ((1,000,000 – 900,000)/1,000,000) X 100 => 10%The site with highest increase in percentage change win the contest!
With that said, participants have to work hard and do whatever they can to improve their site ranking in order to win the contest. It’s quite interesting, it’s giving participants a chance or giving impetus to work hard for their websites or blogs and stand a chance to win the prizes. Of course, the prizes must be awesome and attractive.
What Is The Prizes?
There will be 10 winners, so it’s not difficult to get into Top 10 right? I hope I’ll be one of the 10 winners too. The 10 prizes as below :
First prize – USD115 hosting voucher + permanent link under “Hall of fame” page
Second prize – USD115 hosting voucher + permanent link under “directory” page
Third prize – USD115 hosting voucher + permanent link under “directory” page
4th – 10th place – USD67 hosting voucher
Who Can Join The Contest?
The contest is opened for any websites with valid site ranking assigned by Alexa. Page rank of the site is not a must but website with at least Pagerank 1 and onwards will be given priority. Website that has been blacklisted by search engine is not allowed to participate in the contest.
In return, they require the participants to place a banner or link pointing to RankingContest.com.

In order to join the contest, you have to register first and read their T&C. The contest will be started on 1st of April ’09, so you have to register first before the contest is started because they might need some times to gather all participants with the closest ranking and decide which group that we’re falling in, I think this is fair to all of us.
